FINAL REVEAL: One Room Challenge

FINAL REVEAL: One Room Challenge

The One Room Challenge has come to a close and I am absolutely in love with the final result of my daughter’s room makeover project! My ultimate goal in every project is to make the client happy and I succeeded because my daughter, Taylee, is in love her room. Today I am going to share the final photos of her room with some before and afters to remind you of how the room looked before. Take a look!

I treated this project just like I do for any E-design client I work with: I gathered inspiration, room/furniture measurements and made a note of any furniture or decor that I wanted to stay in the room. Then I created a design plan to make the decorating process easier. Here is the rendering for the design plan I created:

I did create a budget for this as well! I didn’t want to spend more than $1,000. That isn’t a ton of money to redo an entire space but I’m always up for a challenge and it makes it fun to see what I can accomplish on a budget. I did a lot of DIY projects including recovering a dark brown bed in pink fabric, adding knobs to basic IKEA nightstands, updating the doll house, switching out the legs on a bench, updating canvas art, DIY artwork for the gallery walls and taking out the basic closet doors and building a sliding door to replace it. With everything in the room, I can happily say I stayed within budget and spent about $900 total.

To keep the budget low, I used a lot of inexpensive downloadable art from Etsy and printed at my local print shop. I also used a local artist for a custom photo of my kids which is one of my favorite parts of the room.

I love being in this room. I can’t wait for the next One Room Challenge in the Spring when I will share my journey of transforming another room in my home with you! Make sure to check out all the other guest participants in the challenge HERE!
